Vancouver, BC.

This honorary Canadian visited Vancouver for the first time since moving back to San Francisco. It was a short trip but I had some time to explore parts of the city I’ve missed in the past. Gastown proved to have a little something for everybody, from the unique boutiques, to the coffee shops and restaurants. It would’ve been more fun if the weather had cooperated, but hey, it is the Pacific Northwest after all (emphasis on the North) and my spoiled California butt needed a bit of rain.

Americano, Mocha, Cheddar Bacon Scone. We were so confused when we stopped by this coffee shop: is it called Gastown Coffeebar, Gastown or Coffeebar? After a bit of Googling, it’s really just called Coffeebar; Gastown is there only to reference the location. Minus points on the creative front but it makes up for it with the cheddar bacon scone. So good- bacon and cheese. Can’t go wrong.
After exploring, we headed back to Richmond, where my grandpa lives, for some lunch. Maks Noodle House is a must for me; I don’t think I’ve ever made a trip north and not had these noodles. Yes, they’re that good.

Fried chicken cartilage. Don’t knock them til you’ve tried them!

Beef tendon, egg noodles.

Chinese donuts (you tiao)
